Décennie 70.

Lycéen, puis étudiant, je découvre la musique de la Renaissance à la chorale ACJ de Carcassonne en chantant "Ay linda amiga", le "Tourdion" et "Mon cœur se recommande à vous". Un ravissement qui orientera ma carrière à venir de musicologue. 25 ans plus tard, je prouverai que ce sont des faux du siècle dernier ! D'où cette nécessité constante de publier des pièces en consultant et en citant les sources...

Un bout de route ensemble ...

Les Éditions À Cœur Joie se sont constituées en SARL le 1er avril 1976 (ce n’était pas un poisson… d’avril !). J’ai pris la direction de cette maison commerciale le 1er septembre 1988, deux ans après l’avoir intégrée car Ninon Brizard, la première directrice, a pris sa retraite à cette date-là. Les douze premières années de fonctionnement, de 1976 à 1988, ont été très difficiles : les ventes étaient bonnes mais les frais de fonctionnement et les charges étaient bien trop importants. Pour arriver à un bon équilibre et se passer de la caution du Mouvement À Cœur Joie, l’actionnaire principal, j’ai dû prendre des mesures drastiques en diminuant le personnel et en nous dotant d'une unité d’impression plus performante.

Une collection de partitions «économiques» a été créée pour concurrencer les éditions étrangères. C’est ainsi qu’ont été lancées les œuvres chorales de Vivaldi, aux partitions de chœur sans couverture, après les restitutions que j’ai entreprises à la Bibliothèque Universitaire de Turin qui possède tous les manuscrits des œuvres chorales d’Antonio Vivaldi. D’autres restitutions de grands maîtres de l’art choral ont suivi, grâce aux contacts que j’avais à travers l’Europe (jusqu’en Pologne…)

Compositeurs Contemporains pour Choeur a Cappella - Evann Loget

Evann Loget-Raymond is a young musician born in Brittany. He distributes his time between his activities as a countertenor, conductor and composer. He began his apprenticeship at the Academy of Music and Sacred Arts in Sainte-Anne-d'Auray where he began working with vocal ensembles at a very early age and was guided in his efforts by the composer and choir conductor Richard Quesnel. At the same time, he began writing, analysis, piano and accompaniment at the Conservatoire de Vannes. In 2015 he entered the singing program at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris, then the choral conducting program in Marc Korovitch's class and finally the Early Music Department of the same institution. He is also a graduate of the École de Grégorien de Paris and has completed his studies in the choir and orchestra conducting class at the Pôle Supérieur de Paris - Boulogne-Billancourt.

His passion for composition led him to write his first motets for mixed choir at a very young age, followed by pieces for solo instruments, voice and piano, choir and various instrumental chamber ensembles, chamber orchestra, choir and orchestra, until he explored the new electronic tools of musical creation. He was recently commissioned to write the music for Seven Last Words from the Cross, the soundtrack for the short film Je suis Cléromantique directed by Anne-Laure Maudet and Reùven Abbou, as well as the soundtrack for the full-length film La Passion d'Alexandre Binard, and finally the credits for the podcast "Parmi nous le diable" (Among us the devil) by Capucine de Chocqueuse.

What is Danse des Jeux? La Danse des Jeux is a Cultural Olympiad-labelled choreography created by Mourad Merzouki to original music by Müller & Makaroff (Gotan Project) celebrating the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This choreographic creation is also an educational project designed to encourage sporting activity.

Quite naturally, Éditions À Cœur Joie, in partnership with the Association À Cœur Joie, is offering you an arrangement for equal voices (an arrangement for mixed voices is in preparation).

For some years now, we've been thinking more and more about selling our scores in digital format.

We now have a happy-go-lucky solution, and we're delighted to be able to offer you part of our catalogue for digital sale. Here are a few key points:

1 - For the time being, this solution will not allow you to combine your 'digital' and 'paper' orders. You will therefore have to place two orders: one for the PDF scores, and a second for the paper scores.

2 - To be eligible for digital sales, you will need to include only eligible titles in your shopping basket. You can use the filters to sort your search results (or directly in the catalogue) to see which titles are available in PDF and which are not.

3 - Select "Digital sales" in the delivery section of your order, otherwise we don't know whether you are ordering paper or PDF scores.

4 - Please note that PDF delivery is not instantaneous: we will need to watermark and protect your PDF "manually", so you may receive your PDF a few hours or days after placing your order.

L'Association À Cœur Joie, sous l'impulsion de Dominique Michaut-Alchourroun a créé un programme spécial dédié aux séniors et au vieillissement de la voix.

Éditions À Cœur Joie is pleased to introduce you to Arnaud JULIOT's musical universe :

After studying classical guitar at the Conservatoire or Orléans, in Gérard Abiton's class, he perfected his skills in the Department of Music and Musicology of Tours, studying musical composition and choir conducting with Jean-Marc Leblanc and Agnès Charles.
A the same time, he developed these disciplines at the CRR in Tours with Anne Aubert and Pierre-Louis Godeberge, where he became an assistant at the Chamber and Symphonic Choirs of Tours.
Since 2005, he has collaborated with various vocal ensembles in the Centre region: Choir of the University of Orléans, Choir of the city of Rochecorbon, Choir of TIA University, Arthur Honegger choir..., while beeing called upon to perform abroad (Weimar).
He is also the founder of the vocal groups Outremer and Barber Cue Project, as well as the instrumental and choral ensemble Effigies.
He is the author of numerous a cappella choral works and a recent winner of the Ablaze Call of Scores 2017 international composition competition in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is in this capacity that his winning award winning Jubilate Deo was recently recorded in the United States.

Contemporary composers who live solely from their pen... it's almost impossible in France. And yet, our creators have nothing to envy in terms of quality and originality to their colleagues from other countries. By programming one or other work by a living French composer, your choir will gain in energy and vivacity, and French cultural creation will be heard.

Lionel Ginoux studied visual arts (cinema, audiovisual and sound engineering) before devoting himself to musical writing, training alongside Régis Campo, Barnabé Janin, David Owen, Roger Cawkwell, Georges Boeuf... He writes lyrical, sensitive and powerful music with a strong attachment to musical energy and drama. His writing is singular. It is in line with the continuity of contemporary music of the 20th century without denying vocality or classical harmony. This immense movie music composer had a pet peeve: composing "pure" classical music.
On August 12, 1983, during the XIth Choralies festival in Vaison la Romaine, one of his favorite pure music compositions was premiered: Prières pour les temps de détresse. This work for choir and instrumental ensemble is available for sale as choir part, choir-piano part, conductor and instrumental parts for rent (contact us). Young composers with great talent are graduated from conservatories, schools and colleges every year. However, their compositions for choirs are stil little-known, not published and spread enough.
We, Éditions À Cœur Joie, stand up for all of those bright young composers

Today we introduce you to Christopher GIBERT

He first studied analysis, notation and how to play the organ and the piano at the Conservatoire of Toulouse and at the Conservatoire of Boulogne-Billancourt. Then, he wan two firts prizes with the higest qualification of "very good" for choral conducting and musical analysis.
After a Musicology degree, he specialized into sacred music of the 17th century. In order to be graduated of a Master's degree, he wrote a dissertation about the French composer of the 17th century Marc-Antoine Charpentier and his church music.
He studied conducting at the Pôle Supérieur of Rennes with renowned Régine Théodoresco. He is a skillful musician whose biggest passion is conducting choir. He especially worked sound balance and color, voices alloy, prosody and diction with his two vocal ensembles : the chamber group Dulci Jubilo created in 2013 in Toulouse and the baroque ensemble La Pellegrina created in 2016. LES PASSIONS DU CHŒUR by Bernadette Lespinard, Fayard, 2018

I hardly ever read such a book. A book with soinformation gathered about music. This is the result of an incredible eruditioncombined with a beautiful writing style for a very nice time spent reading.

This is a very unusual subject, because itdeals only with choral singing and unaccompanied choral singing. An incrediblenumber of composers, societies, choirs and male-voice choral societies came outbetween 1800 and 1950 and that put a spotlight on the buzzing musical activityin the mind of French people.

This book is totally fascinating, and I reallywant to thank Bernadette Lespinard for it.

A VICTORY FOR CREATORS!

The European directive for royalty was voted to the European Parliament on Tuesday. 658 elected representatives were present at the vote in Strasbourg. 348 representatives voted for the motion,274 voted against it and 36 abstained. The project is very complicated and demands that platforms like Google, Apple and Facebook filter content like press articles, movies or music, to insure a fairer payment for their creators.

This progress is huge for small businesses like us to exist against big companies like them. This is nothing more than democratic not to let the strongest lead.

It is now time for each member state to include this European directive into their national law. However, as national laws don’t always fit with this project, it will certainly lead to great debates of which we surely will give you some news.

We stand for creators’right to get the payment they deserve.

Maybe today, or maybe tomorrow, I don’t know…

LE TANGO CORSE (Corsican tango)

We need to take some time. Wait, working? Ok,but slow down. How about resting or taking a nap, then playing some music? Yes,ok but turn it down. Shall we dance? Hell, yeah! But please, be careful to therhythm.

Anyway, this song is a representation ofthe Corsican way of life. It was made famous by Fernandel and Chanson PlusBifluorée. I know, it’s a little bit cliché, isn’t it?

Anyway, this arrangement reinforces thestereotype. Just a little bit. Basses echo their nearby desks’ notes and alsoperform their regular part. The main melody is equally split between the threeother voices.

Keep singing, but never get tired.

DORMIR NE PUIS - SAB

These seven traditional songs were arrangedby Manuel Coley and transformed into a three-part mixed version. He reallyrealized an incredible proofreading and modernization work for this musicalgenre. Not only had he harmonized, but he also added body percussion to voices.He also cleverly used the bourdons specific to his music, and he firmlysuggests a contemporary reading of these songs.

A Princess story ...

THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA

This is a musical tale based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story.
The Prince would not like to marry anybody; he wants to marry a true princess. A young woman comes to the castle on a stormy evening; she’s covered in mud and soaked to the skin. As the Queen wants to know if she is a true princess, she sets a trick up which consists on hiding a pea under the bed of the Princess, because only a true princess is delicate enough to feel it!
This tale is intended for 4-to-8-year old children, as well as the other tales Nicole Berne set to music. The Princess and the Pea can be either performed in concert version, in theatrical version with children, or with puppets. Each song is preceded by a short instrumental introduction so the piano accompaniment can be performed both in live or being previously recorded.

The Princess and the Pea – CD

The additional CD is essential for Nicole Berne’s musical tale. It is performed by Éclats, Toulouse’s children choir conducted by François Terrieux.
The CD includes a complete performance, a melodic piano and instruments for a miming performance, and orchestra for a miming performance.
