Reynier Silegas Ramirez harmonized this famous song of Cuba – his native country – and made it an unaccompanied part-song. “Chan Chan” was written and composed in 1986 by Compay Segundo. He performed it for the first time in 1988 during a festival organized by the Washington Smithsonian Institute and the Cuban musicologist Danilo Orozco. It is now part from Cuban music standards covered by many artists like the Gipsy Kings, rap, and jazz and also classic music singers. This is one of the worldwide most famous Cuban songs, like “Guantanamera,” “No More,” “El Manisero” for instance.
