This is a musical tale for the Epiphany, intended for two voices children’s choirs, narrators and instruments. It is based on a tale by Marguerite-Marie Vandewalle. Two versions are available: one is for choirs and pianos, and the other is for choirs and orchestras (harp, organ, glockenspiels, tubular bells, triangles, vibraphone, and string instruments).
When the Three Wise Men came to Bethlehem, a young boy named Raïcha came with them and brought a present for the King of the World. It was a “silk tunic with wide stripes weaved by his mother who was a hemp spinster.” But when she gave it to him, she said “this tunic has a story. I met friends throughout my whole life, and they offered me the silk thread this tunic is made of. They put their sorrow… their faith… their tears, and all that composes life.” This present became the symbol of human condition and values. It was the offering from the poor left nearby Balthasar, Melchior and Gaspar’s offerings.
