Charles Gounod was a composer of sacred music. He arranged and harmonized about forty hymns of the 18th century for mixed and equal voices accompanied on the piano and on the organ ad libitum.
“Cieux, fondez-vous en pleurs” was published in 1882 in “Quatorze grands choeurs.” This hymn is easy to learn. It is a very moving hymn typical of the baroque style. This is a beautiful and interesting series!
