	César Portillo de la Luz was born in 1922 in Havana. He began to gove concerts when he was 20 with only his guitar.   
	He later became a professional musician and recorded "Contigo En La Distancia” for the first time in 1947.  
	At that time, Bolero was the essence of Spanish-American romantic ballade and because of recording industry’s success, Cuba was the best place to perform it.
