This sheet music is based on The Song of Songs. This composer was considered as being a latter-day Josquin Des Près. Antoine de Févin composed about ten masses, twenty motets, magnificat songs, lamentations and about fifteen French chansons. This work was arranged in order to be sung by three female desks and one male voice. All the bottom of page 3 is in counterpoint. This is one of the most beautiful Févin’s polyphonic songs.
