In the repertoire of the legendary vocal group, The Fisk Jubilee Singers
as early as 1872, Didn't my Lord deliver Daniel is a standard
of the Negro spiritual .
This is a beautiful illustration of the theme of freedom which, by its references
to biblical texts, spoke clearly to black people in slavery.
With its rather classic harmonization despite dissonances peculiar to this style of music, this proposal complements the Three Negro Spirituals already published under the reference ACJ 3041. It will suit any choir, specialized or not in the Gospel music, eager to put in its repertoire works energized by the rhythm and accentuation of the text.
