“Jamais je n’aimerai grand homme” was published anonymously by Pierre Attaingnant. This is an arrangement of the end of “Tu disois que j’en mourroys,” which was also published by Pierre Attaingnant in 1530. This sheet music is short and composed of two sections of different texts which only similarity is being written about love. The story is told by a woman. The polyphony is simplified, and the rhythm is kept by the dialog between the two types of voices (male and female). The second part is based on a popular aspect. This song was famous and appreciated because it is short. There are two versions of “Chant des oiseaux” (ref. ACJ 6024).
