Clément Janequin [Jannequin, Jennequin] is a French composer, singer and priest (born in Châtellerault around 1485 and died in Paris between January and April 1558), known for the numerous polyphonic songs he composed.
He is considered to be one of the greatest French masters of the first half of the 16th century; his output has exceeded 400 works.
Janequin's music remains very popular and has been frequently recorded. His song, La Guerre ou La Bataille, was used on the soundtrack of Gus Van Sant's film Last Days (at the very beginning of the film and at the end credits).
