This is a famous song from the Dauphiné. Farandole is a popular Provençal dance which was originally from Ancient Greece. It is usually danced on 6/8 time to represent the festive atmosphere. But today, the original rhythm and steps are not practiced anymore and the word “farandole” only refers to the single file.
