This cantata is intended for narrators, soloists, mixed choirs, flutes, oboes, Bb clarinets and pianos.
It is based on a long poem written by Paul Eluard when he traveled to Beynac and stayed near an old farm named “Le Château des pauvres” in August 1952.
It won the 2nd prize in the composition competition organized by movement À Coeur Joie in partnership with the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication in 2003. The category was “Composition avec petite formation instrumentale” (Composition for small instrumental ensembles).
