Le secret, words and music by Karine Choual, for 2 equal voices choir or children choir:
This piece in E minor, without great vocal difficulty and with a fairly limited range, is intended for children aged around ten years.
However, it is desirable that the voices be very sustained, as the main work revolves around the musical expression that illustrates the tender and elegiac character of the song.
The theme of travel is evoked here and symbolised by the swallow.
The child, leaning against the window, impatiently awaits the return of the swallow and the spring. On her great journey she delivers them to loved ones lost in distant lands.
But one day, the swallow does not return. Summer gives way to autumn and the landscape is transformed into a melancholic painting.
One last time the child leaves a letter on the windowsill. This letter will sleep for a long time in the cold of the night and the wind will blow on it, releasing all the children's secrets into the night. They will join the swallow, leaving us to hope for its long-awaited return.
For children's choir, in equal voices (SA).
