Maurice Carême inspired many composers mostly in French-speaking countries. Marcel Corneloup was probably the one who sang his poems the most. He used many examples in his music textbooks. He also made the collection of 18 equal-voice choirs “L’aube de mai” published by Éditions Van de Velde, the choral suite of 14 three-part mixed voice choirs “Le Zodiaque” published by À Coeur Joie, and the short choral suite “Les saisons” intended for 4-part mixed voice choir, including an equal-voice song “Automne.” The poet had not only written children’s poems, he also wrote about seasons, signs, stars, and sky calendar. We suggest you to sing the four songs as a suite because keys come one after another rather easily. “Automne” goes after “Printemps” and “Été” and is sung by female voices before the mixed-voice intense and short conclusion of “Hiver.”
