This sheet music is intended for soprano-mezzo solos, mixed choirs and instruments. The first version is for choir, 2 C trumpets and a great organ. The second version is for choir, 2 C trumpets, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, timbales and string instruments. Roger Calmel wanted to be clear, have striped down lines and the possibility of a common chord. The score has a complex structure and many musical signs but the choral writing is quite simple and does not contain any trick. Every voice is precisely represented in a singing style. The work is divided into 12 different verses in which the mixed choir alternates with solos sometimes in the form of dialogues.
