Schubert composed several versions for this antiphony written for Virgin Mary. There are three versions for sopranos, orchestras and organs. One version is for tenors, orchestras and organs, one is for sopranos and string instruments and another is for four male voices. He wrote the standard mixed choir version at the beginning of 1816 and was published for the first time in 1833. There is no theoretical or rhythmic difficulty. It became one of the church music classics thanks to its harmonic style.
