Pierre Calmelet won the 1st prize for conducting at the Conservatoire de Paris. He taught lyric art in Opéra de Lyon and was also Michel Corboz’s assistant. He is a lecturer at Conservatoire de Paris and conducts Le Madrigal de Paris. |
| | |  This is an anonymous Spanish-American procession song from 1631. At the beginning of the 17th century, cathedrals’ archives were sometimes full of incredible European scores of that time. Spanish, Italian and Flemish polyphonic musics echoed in those huge aisles, and then they could be heard on towns’ avenues and on villages’ squares, intertwining sacred music with joyful local dances. The cultural mix between two civilizations helped the New World to spread music. The Peruvian “Hanacpachap cussicuinin” was one of the first polyphonic score of being published into the New World. The text is in Quechua, based on “Ritual Formulario, e institucion de curas,” written by Juan Pérez Bocanegra in 1631. A French version is suggested with this sheet music. The original version in Quechua is “Hanac Pachap” (ref. ACJ 393). |

Marjolaine Ott was born 1962 and studied to become a flutist. She is the choirmaster of the Chorale des 7 Tempêtes, Paris, since 1995. Among other songs, she harmonized Gainsbourg’s “Couleur café” for them. She takes part in singing workshop Turbulents and is a choirmaster as well as playing the flute in several ensembles like Jefira, Unlimited and Rumbanana. |
