| |  This sheet music is an extract of the “Cancionero de palacio” by Juan del Encina. The song is written with the fantasy “Villancico,” which is a popular genre with simple and imitative harmonies. Themes are about nature: cuckoo, nightingale… and written with onomatopoeias. Janequin composed the combination of it entitled “Le chant des oiseaux” about 50 years later. French songs of Renaissance are full of puns and plays on words’ ambivalence. |

| | |  This sheet music is based on an antiphony written at the beginning of the 9th century. It inspired many composers which mostly set it to music with quiet and peaceful melodies, but it can also be seen as a liberating song and that’s the way it was arranged for the youth choir Incognito in Paris. It was written with a 5/4 time and the central part softens, enhancing alto parts and the main melody. There is no difficulty, especially if you are accompanied on drums. |
| | |  The piece by the Romanian composer, editor of the Editio Musica Budapest, theory and composition professor at the Liszt Academy of Music, is very descriptive; the minor second intervals, augmented chords, and chromatic scales represent the artifice the devil uses to deceive and seduce the honorable heart. The text is taken from an anonymous medieval Goliardic text "Anonymi Hungari affectus in Jesum super omnia amabilem".
