The text of this sheet music is a translation from a traditional song from Pays d’Ossau, “Au berduré jou m’entré.” Jean Poueigh wrote a book entitled “Chansons populaire des Pyrénées françaises” published in 1924; the song is described as a shepherd song. The ministery of Instruction Publique et des Beaux-Arts ordered him to search and collect the popular songs from this region. The new song based on this text follows the structure of a song with verses. However, there are some modifications of notes or lyrics (altos, male voices) and it gives every verse a proper identity that helps for interpretation and singing dynamics. |
