| | |  This sheet music is an extract of the “Cancionero de palacio” by Juan del Encina. The song is written with the fantasy “Villancico,” which is a popular genre with simple and imitative harmonies. Themes are about nature: cuckoo, nightingale… and written with onomatopoeias. Janequin composed the combination of it entitled “Le chant des oiseaux” about 50 years later. French songs of Renaissance are full of puns and plays on words’ ambivalence. |
