| | |  This poem is an extract from “Song of Songs.” The sheet music won the 3rd prize in Tours’ Florilège vocal’s composition competition, in 1998. This is a beautiful sheet music with incredible melodic lines, but the harmony is very difficult to perform. You should have a great choral experience. Michel Berthomier was born in 1950 in Montluçon. He made general and music studies, then he studied at Lycée La Fontaine, Paris (from 1969 to 1972) (learning music training in secondary schools and junior high schools). He studied harmony and counterpoint at the Conservatoire de Paris. He teaches musical education at Brest secondary school from 1972 to 1983. He obtained his aggregation at musical education and choral singing in 1982. He has been a teacher at Poitiers’s Musicology Department (keyboard harmony, conducting, creative process, IT, etc.) since 1983. He is also an organist. For now, his composition catalog is composed of 99 pieces and cycles, and he wrote about a third of them. They were written for 63 different formations. Nine pieces were written for unaccompanied vocal music choirs, and six were for choirs and instruments. |
| | |  Jacobus Gallus was a huge Slovenian composer who traveled throughout Europe. He composed more than 500 songs in a short period of time. He composed songs for 24 voices and was the master of “cori spezzati.” “Duo seraphim” is one of the most successful dialogs between two choirs. The alternatim represents the two angels’ speech, and it ends with a lively way of expressing the glory of the Earth. |
