| | |  “La grenouille qui veut se faire aussi grosse que le boeuf", fable by Jean de la Fontaine harmonized for mixed-voice choir Mathieu Le Nestour. This sheet music was ordered and created by the Choeur National des Jeunes du Mouvement À Coeur Joie, like “Le chêne et le Roseau” by Mathieu Septier and “Trois fables de Monsieur de La Fontaine” by Benoît Menut. There are some obvious difficulties about theory, rhythm and voicing. It was performed by the Choeur National des Jeunes for the choral singing contest in Arezzo, in August, 2007. This choir won 1st prizes in several grand prix and categories in Arezzo. Mathieu Le Nestour was born in 1979. He is a singer, a pianist, a composer and arranger, but he also teaches current music singing and is the assistant manager of “Voix en scène” workshop at Conservatoire de Villebon-sur-Yvette. He was part of many recordings as an instrumentist or a composer for Naïve Records, Prenez Place, L’air de rien, etc. |
| | |  This is a Gilbert Bécaud song which has stood the test of time. The rigorous beat creates the impression of waltz tune, so you should not insist on that side of the melody. However, each part has a fragment of it, and you must be careful it’s not hidden by counter part especially if a soprano is singing. If the spoken part is performed by a male soloist for the second verse, it will glorify the Tyrolienne interlude. Lyrics are very descriptive and bring up several atmospheres which should be highlighted. |
