| | |  This is a sea shanty from Morbihan. This sheet music won the 2nd prize in arrangement competition for category “chanson a cappella pour voix mixtes” (mixed voices unaccompanied song) organized by the Mouvement À Coeur Joie in partnership with Ministry of Culture in 2003. There are several version of this song, one is performed by Les 4 Barbus (chorus “Mon tra déri tra la la…”) and the most famous one, the one of this arrangement. It deals with the religious feeling of sailors, of their families, and of St Anne-d’Auray, historical and cultural Breton hot spot, this is also the most important place of pilgrimage of Brittany. St Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary is honored since 5th century. Pilgrimage began in 17th century after St Anne appeared to Yves Nicolazic, a pious plowman. Nicolas Pommier was born in 1975, he studied musicology at the University of Tours and Sorbonne University after studying at Conservatories of Mans and Tours. He graduated from The École normale supérieure in Paris. He is a singer for Choeur de chambre Mikrokosmos for which he began to work as an assistant conductor. He is also a choral conductor, a teacher in conducting, a CAPES and Agrégation holder professor. He is also a composer and arranger mostly for choir sphere. Several of his works were published in collection of the Centre d’Art Polyphonique de Bourgogne. |
