| |  This sheet music can be attributed to Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina but it was never published when he was alive. It is now within the manuscript Baini IV, 174 kept in the Biblioteca Casanatense, Roma. He made three polyphonic versions of this text. There are also a six-voice version and a eight-voice version. This motet is not intended for anyone in particular and can be performed for a service of penitence or of Passion of Jesus. It is not a part of liturgy, prayers or Christian services. It was meticulously corrected by Jacques Barbier. The recollection is represented by the slow rhythm. This is an incredible pared-down sheet music with no rhythmic or theoretical difficulty. Jacques Viret wrote an article about Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli, in the book “Musique vocale de la Renaissance italienne” (ref. ACJ 55 0005). |

The short sections depict the brutality, and the dismay of love's first sighs. Sharp notes enhance the tension of the speech and the intensity of this passionate declaration. |
