 This sheet music can be played alone, but it is also a trilogy: Pater Noster, Ave Maria, and Ave verum corpus. Pierre Calmelet supervised the creation of “Ave verum corpus” and “Pater noster” on November 5, 2017, in the Basilica of Saint-Denis. “These two motets are written with the same language and spirit than “Ave Maria.” If they are performed in the following order: Pater Noster, Ave Maria and Ave verum corpus, they can be heard as only one work. Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Maurice Duruflé inspired me for that type of writing. Pierre Pincemaille taught how to write like a specific composer at the Conservatoire de Paris.” Pierre Pincemaille was one of the greatest French organists.He won five international prizes for composition. He has been the permanent organist of Saint-Denis Cathedral since 1987. He gave concerts all around the world. He was graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris. He won five first prizes in harmony, counterpoint, fugue, organ and improvisation. He studied Henri Challan, Jean-Claude Raynaud, Marcel Bitsch and Rolande Falcinelli. He taught counterpoint at the Conservatoire de Paris and at the CRD de Saint Maur. He passed away on January 12, 2018. |
