| | |  This song deals with Saint Augustine of Hippo who meets a child trying to empty the sea by the mean of a teaspoon. Lyrics are original because they are semi-French and Provençal, both texts crosses each other. French text is a partial translation and all create a song between creation and tradition. Verses are written in a rather recitative style whereas choruses sound more polyphonic. Answers are imitation of each other, so you must be careful to keep melody clear to be listened to. Hombeline is Provençal, and she put her sensibility into Occitan songs. She has a strong presence on stage and truly expresses strength of the songs she is performing. She brings us into a space-time where a secular thing becomes sacred. When she was 26, she began to explore French repertoire by herself playing on the street with her barrel organ. Then she has got herself noticed by Julos Beaucarne and Richard Martin and several other celebrities. She has released several albums including “Se pòu pas vuejar la mar”, “Chants d’émoi” and “De Tradition en Création” — June 2008. |
