This is an extract from the album “C’est le beau monde” performed by the famous Quebecois humorist, singer-songwriter, impersonator and actor Jean Lapointe. He was born in 1935 and became a Canada Senator in 2001. The songwriter is also his partner in crime Marcel Lefebvre. He wrote in 1988 that “Jean Lapointe nous élève sur les hauteurs d’une poésie légère sans jamais se donner des airs de penseur” (“Jean Lapointe expresses a sense of otherwordliness through his poetry but never considering himself as an intellectual.”). For verses, arrangers want you to feel free of interpreting, choosing the beat and text’s prosody. Chorus is a lot more regular, a lot tender too but without any mushiness.
