Baba Yetu is a song composed by Christopher Tin, originally for the video game Civilization IV and performed by the Soweto Gospel Choir. Baba Yetu is the first music from a video game to win a Grammy Award.
The text is a Swahili adaptation of the Our Father prayer, not a perfect literal translation. |
| | | “Babel T.” was ordered by choir 20.21, which is specialized in creation and interpretation of vocal works from 20th and 21st centuries. It is conducted by Cyrille Colombier. The poem is referring to an Inuit myth about language origins. A new sonorous way of working is imagined; there would be pitches, phonemes, collections, space inter-changing and evolving accents.
