Bogoroditsè Diévo radouïsia - RachmaninovThis is the 6th extract from the Vespers, op. 37. Serge Rachmaninov was impressed by the incredible choirs he used to hear during religious services into Saint-Pétersbourg’s Orthodox Church. The Vespers is the prayer said before Sundays and great religious celebrations. Playing emigrant composers’ music was prohibited by the Soviet anti-religious politic; the Vespers were forgotten for a while. Church music was rediscovered during Perestroïka. This song can be performed by the major part of the choirs.

Bohemian RhapsodyBohemian Rhapsody, famous song of Freddy Mercury harmonized for 4 mixed voices choir by Pierre-Gérard Verny. Freddie Mercury was a great fan of opera and that piece is a tribute paid for that musical style. In Queen’s version, that was him who sung all voices in re-recording. Pierre-Gérard Verny’s arrangement isn’t easy but perfectly respects the originality of the song.
