Discover Trois Motets pour la Semaine Sainte, sacred text set to music by Christopher Gibert:
This small cycle of three sacred pieces by Christopher Gibert is based on various texts related to the Passion of Jesus Christ. These works can thus be integrated into the liturgies of Holy Week.
Their tonal/modal colourings and Gregorian-inspired phrases seek to illustrate and highlight the text of these prayers.
The antiphon of the Ubi Caritas is commonly sung for the foot-washing service (Holy Thursday).
This text transcribes all the love and charity of God. Adoramus te an antiphon of Good Friday, sung during the Way of the Cross. Finally, the prayer Ave verum corpus meditates on the Passion of Christ and on his real presence in the Eucharist.
