The text is a prayer addressed to Christ. The melody is sober and represents the supplication. The second section of the song begins with a musical and literal quote of “D’ung aultre amer” by Johannes Ockeghem. This is one of the numerous tributes paid by Josquin Desprez to his model. This mass is one of the shortest and the easiest of all that he wrote.
