Umbrae mortis ("the shadow of death") was composed in 1997 by Pascal Dusapin for mixed choir SATB.
The work was originally intended to be stage music, which it never became.
It adopts the plan of a requiem and takes up the text of the Requiem by Johannes Ockeghem which was one of the very first composed.
Dedicated to the memory of composer Francisco Guerrero who had just died, it is made of a unique movement whose performance lasts approximately 5 minutes.
