Sicut cervus desiderat

is motet is divided into two parts for a standard mixed choir. “Sicut Cervus” is the first section of it, and it is one of the most popular motets of the Roman composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. It was published in 1581 and republished several times at that time. It was a part from the religious repertoire of choir schools and sacred music publishers from those days to our days. The simplicity of the melody is perfect fit for the lyrics to the psalm 42 and the peaceful aspect of the first verses.
