In the opera Manon, l'air de Manon (1884) music by Jules MASSENET (1842-1912), libretto by Henri Meilhac and Philippe Gille, after the novel by Abbé Prévost Manon Lescaut. Arrangement for 3-part mixed choir and piano by Emmanuel ROBIN.
While the Chevalier Des Grieux has given up his fortune to live sparingly with Manon, Brétigny announces to her that her lover's father is going to have him kidnapped to bring him back to his senses, and offers the young woman the protection and luxury she has always dreamed of.
Enthralled by these prospects, she decides to follow Brétigny, and bids farewell to the modest home she lived in with the Chevalier, not without sincere regret...
A choir
setting on an original solo aria: it’s the crazy challenge of our "Arias
be good" series (Les grands airs vous feront du bien).
