The four-voice version was attributed to Palestrina by musicologists of the 19th century, but it is in fact an arranged version of François Roussel’s. He was probably Palestrina’s teacher between 1548 and 1550. There is no difficulty and the ranges are very comfortable. There is a second version with another interpretation of the text. These pieces of music are short, but they were written by a great composer who composed many works.
