King Lion, who fell in ecstasy as a child listening to the jazz bursts he heard when he passed Preservation Hall in New Orleans, has only had one dream since then: to open his own jazz club on the mythical 52nd Street in Manhattan. Fate unexpectedly provides him with the necessary funds and he sets out in search of a jazz band that he dreams of being a big band. He sends various animals of his acquaintance to set up his project (even if Reggaéléphant, the big boss of the milieu, imposes Siréna, his protégée, as a singer). King Lion will also have to beware of a few pitfalls sown by jealous rivals, but it ends with the inauguration of the Carnav'Jazz Club of the Animals, all told by a first-person narrator (the pianist, the band leader) and punctuated by numerous dialogues.
A musical tale on the work of Camille Saint-Saëns, "Le carnaval des animaux": the arrangements by Pierre-Gérard VERNY, for choir and jazz trio or choir and piano, are in various jazz styles and set in a thrilling story, written by Thierry PAUPE, involving the various animals.
The structure of the show also makes it possible to detach certain numbers.
The lyrics of the songs were written by Pierre-Gérard VERNY, Fanja RAHAJASON, Olivier HOUSER, Laure JAUBERT.

In this work full of fantasy, Jean-Christophe ROSAZ's writing alternates between two groups: boys and girls who seem to argue (nicely...) but find themselves in unison for cheerful verses and a bit surrealist where it is about grey mice, modeling clay, Borneo bears, and especially homemade cake. Truly a beautiful, easy and humorous piece for a Christmas program.

op.90 (2016)
For children choir, soprano solo and accompaniment, CHANTS DE LA VIEILLE FRANCE is a work written by Dimitri Tchesnokov, after Julien TIERSOT's collecting work, who has transcribed the songs and melodies of french traditionnal songs from the 13th until the 17th century and realized some harmonizations.
Melodies and texts are faithfully those of Julien Tiersot's transcription.
Some elements of the harmonization have been kept in the present work by Dimitri Tchesnokov.
