This sheet music is an extract from “Sept paroles du Christ en croix” written for four soloists, choirs and orchestras. It can be performed without accompaniment. César Franck composed it on August 14, 1859, when he was an organist in the Basilica of Saint Clotilde, but it seems that it was never played when he was alive. This edition is based on the manuscript kept at the Bibliothèque de l’Université de Liège, Belgium. It can be performed by every choir.
