"La valse de l'air" was written during the lockdown. Even if it is full of melancholy, this piece is meant to be light and simply sings our need to breathe.
It is dedicated to Claude Vercher, companion in music, who left us in 2021.
Dominique Cosaert was born in Mouscron (Belgium) in 1959. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Mons where he obtained first prizes in written harmony, counterpoint, fugue, composition and choral conducting. In 1988, he completed his studies as a choral conductor at the Ferenc Liszt Academy (Budapest) with of Gabor Ugrin, conductor of the Hungarian state choir.
As a composer, he has written works for choir, both religious and secular, including a requiem for women's choir, harp and horn premiered in 2006 in commemoration of the 1956 Hungarian revolution in the Brussels Cathedral. Some pieces were performed and broadcasted by the choir of the Belgian radio. Other compositions and arrangements were produced by the vocal ensemble "Odace" which he directed for 20 years.
On the other hand, for several years, he was director of the music and dance academy of the Botte du Hainaut, as well as professor of ensemble singing and choral conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, before occupying the position of inspector of artistic education for the music sector in the Wallonie-Bruxelles federation.
