This is a popular Basque song which arrangement is famous in all Basque Country but also in all Spain. This a very simple polyphony which can be performed by every choir. José Uruñuela is one of the countless talented Basque arrangers supported by Vincent d’Indy who published French versions of their arrangements. In Basque Country, the richest repertoire is the male-choir. That’s why José Uruñuela firstly arranged the popular song from Soule, "Maitea nun zira,” for 4-parts equal male voices, then for mixed voices when it met with success.
