Mille regrets, Composition by Pierre-Édouard PECOURT for 3 women's or equal voices SMA A cappella.

Laureate of the composition contest organized by À Coeur Joie Hauts-de-France "Josquin toujours présent" : 1st prize category B.

"Mille regretz" is a short work, written for equal voice a cappella choir, in direct reference to the famous song loved by Charles V.
In a contemporary writing easily accessible, and of meditative and melancholic essence, this miniature aims at revisiting the text published in Antwerp in 1549, by trying to find a new form of expressiveness, following the well-known masterpieces of the Renaissance.
"I was fascinated by the purity and the very condensed form emanating from the writing of Josquin Desprez (to whom this song is generally attributed), a true genius of combinatorics, he who left us the summits of musical architecture having influenced those who also contributed to build the European musical heritage".
The work won first prize in the equal voices / women's choir category in the "Josquin, toujours présent" composition competition organized by Choralies / A Coeur joie Hauts-de-France in 2020.

His first contacts with the choral world go back to a childhood in the Picardy countryside. Animated very early by an interest in sharing and transmission, Pierre-Edouard founded his first choir at the age of twenty-two.
Trained in the conservatories of Lille and Paris, as well as initially in choral conducting by Anne POELEN at the Lille University, he regularly completes his approach to choral singing and perfects his skills under the guidance of Nicole CORTI, Géraldine TOUTAIN, Marianne GUENGUARD, Valérie JOSSE and Benoît GRENÈCHE.
Pierre-Edouard is a professor of music with a Master's degree in music writing from the CNSMDP (with honors). He teaches in high schools in Abbeville and Amiens, and is involved in professional and internal Agrégation exam trainings for choral conducting. He presently conducts the choir Vox humana in Amiens, which focuses on contemporary a cappella repertoires.
