Here is a song taken from the American repertoire which became a very famous jazz standard. Immortalized by the crooner Nat King Cole, it was covered by many artists around the world (Frank Sinatra, among others...). It is Mimi Perrin, in the 50's with her vocal group "Les doubles six" who gave the first French polyphonic adaptation based on an arrangement by Quincy Jones. There are currently few arrangements for choir of this piece. Also a mixed voices version, with 3 parts (ref. ACJ 24060). The arrangement by Pierre-Gérard Verny is not difficult and is published with both texts (English and French), which will allow choirmasters to choose the most suitable version for their group. The accompaniment is composed for jazz trio (piano, double bass, drums) but can be done, without changing the character of the piece, on piano alone.
