Love is a theme often used in Renaissance literature in many different poems with the same incipit. Some musicians were inspired by these poems and created songs like “Toutes les nuits tu m’es présente” by Clément Janequin (ref. ACJ 670) and “Toutes les nuits que sans vous je me couche” by Roland de Lassus or Thomas Créquillon. The version for four voices was written by Guillaume Costeley “Toutes les nuits je ne pense qu’en celle” is one of the hundred songs published in les Meslanges in 1570. This version is based on a poem by Clément Marot. Guillaume Costley used measures 7 or 29, F sharp and F natural.
