To be discovered Un chemin sort de mes pieds, choral suite for equal voices, magnificent poem by Henri MESCHONNIC set to music by Manuel COLEY:

This choral suite mixes spoken and sung words, accompanied by piano or percussions (rattlesnakes, marimba, xylophone, carillon, boomhawkers) in a writing for 1 or 2 voices.
The tessitura is very well adapted to children's voices and the very poetic writing allows young singers to become familiar with various forms of contemporary expression.
Manuel COLEY defines himself as a "craftsman-musician", he is a state-qualified choral conductor and composer. In charge of courses in choral conducting at the university and then at the CFMI of Poitiers and in various large professional training structures, he refocuses his artistic and pedagogical activity around the project "Voie d'enfance", at the Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes.
This project is dedicated to the development of children's collective vocal practices, pedagogical experimentation and the creation of repertoire for children's choirs, as well as research into new forms of performance, notably with the ICILABA choir.

Manuel COLEY thus defines his approach as a composer and his approach to the poetic work of Henri MESCHONNIC:

"The genius of Henri MESCHONNIC's poetry (1932-2009) consists in treating the most essential questions of man's life within the shortest poetic forms, using the most common language (without title, nor capitalization, nor punctuation) and addressing children as well as adults, the most intuitive as well as the most "literate".
This poetry is all in praise of the simple.
My music, minimalist, like the poems, is inspired by various reminiscences of travels, from India to Africa, through Northern and Eastern Europe, "where this path out of my feet has led me incessantly".
The poems quoted are taken from three books: "et la terre coule", "puisque je suis ce buisson", and "tout entier visage", published by Arfuyen. »
