This cantata is intended to be performed by soprano soloists, female three-voice choirs and orchestras.
Mary Magdalene was one of the Christ followers. She is a legendary figure and people in many places claimed that she once came here. She inspired many writers, painters and composers. This sheet music is intended to be performed by experienced choirs in spite of having several unison parts. You can accompany on the piano or with an orchestra composed of two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, two trumpets, one trombone, four timbales and string instruments. The title of the sheet music “Le miroir de…” is a clue of the device used by the composer; mirror. He inverted the intervals for all voices of the polyphony. Thus, melodic and harmonic motives are symmetrically reproduced, like a reflection.
