Discover Oser ... le Jazz , 11 jazz standards or bossa nova arranged for choir with 3 mixed voices and piano by Pierre -Gérard Verny

:

By publishing this fourth songbook of  "Oser" ... series,  Éditions À Coeur Joie opens the way to the jazz repertoire, often unknown and sometimes seen as difficult to interpret.
The mixed 3-voice arrangements of 11 of the greatest jazz and Bossa Nova standards by Pierre-Gérard Verny, the genre specialist, bring this musical language within everyone's reach.
The levels of execution of the different titles are varied, allowing everyone to find their way around.
With this new volume of the "Oser..." series, a new page of choral jazz is opened to everyone, especially to those who have never played it before.
As the language of swing sometimes seems difficult to grasp, a CD to accompany the learning process (for choir conductors who are "novices" in this musical idiom but also for singers) is offered with this new collection (optional but cannot be sold alone).
It allows to hear the final realizations of the arrangements and also proposes mp3 files of learning voice by voice, as well as the piano playback.

About Pierre-Gérard Verny :

Pianist, singer, composer, arranger, teacher and choir director, Pierre-Gérard VERNY is currently one of the leading specialists in France in vocal jazz, particularly polyphonic. He is one of the rare choral conductors to handle jazz, gospel and variety with groups often exceeding 100 singers.
With a classical training at the beginning, he is interested in jazz through the piano by replaying by ear the recordings of the greatest such as Art Tatum, Eroll Garner, Oscar Peterson or Claude Bolling, one of the French masters of the stride piano.
After studying piano and singing, he studied writing at the conservatory and a brilliant university course in Lyon. He worked as a choral and orchestral conductor for 3 years with the 1st assistant Herbert Von Karajan, and composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur of Lyon.
Pierre-Gérard VERNY is also leading a brilliant career as a teacher. His university studies enabled him to teach at the conservatory and then to become a pedagogical advisor for the French National Education, trainer and training advisor in the field of choral singing. He was a lecturer at the Sorbonne University (Paris I) for the agrégation and is currently the Academic Delegate for choral singing to the Rector of the Créteil Academy. As such, he conducts about ten concerts each year, staging more than 200 schoolchildren with professional musicians.
He regularly leads masterclasses on voice or directs choral jazz workshops, activities for which he has become one of the French references.
